LIVE ACTION: Tango the Basilisk

Live action for my 10 ways to project. Honestly I am so glad I managed to make this, it was so much fun to make. While editing I realised I filmed it portrait instead of landscape, I know now for future films to record it landscape. Tango had a great time exploring the wooden dolls house, and causing chaos. She was my inspiration for a Basilisk creature (Sort of snake/dragon). I filmed this using my phone and edited in Premiere Pro, the music used in this video is the Jaws theme and [Electro] – F.O.O.L – Throne [Monstercat FREE Release].

At first I was hesitant using Tango as she only just ate food a day ago and she was grumpy this morning. But she was an angel during filming! I absolutely loved editing the video so the clips match up with the music, also decorating the wooden house before filming. If I did have the time to improve I would have used a better camera, possibly a decent video camera, and I would have filmed it landscape of course!

Pixelation

Filmed with: Macbook Pro Webcam (‘Stop motion’ Application’)

My pixelation was Filmed in my class, using the whiteboard. I wish I had sent more time on it.

Here was the concept piece of the design I was drawing: Screen Shot 2014-12-01 at 08.16.19

I was planning to spend at least an hour drawing on the whiteboard, That didn’t work out unfortunately. Other than that I had fun drawing on the whiteboard. It would have looked better if it was filmed with something else other than a webcam and the brightness enchanted on the video.

Stop Motion

I think my stop motion had to be the most enjoyable of my films. I managed to complete filming within 5 hours when I got home from college. At first I wasn’t sure how to make a stop motion, I looked at tutorials online and then figured out the basics myself. I used my minecraft articulated figurines as the characters, and a block of super sculpey clay for my little creature to come to life.

I had a few problems, however, when moving the camera to pan was quite tricky, it mean’t I had to move the whole laptop and had difficulty matching up the frames so the background wouldn’t move as much. In the second shot I accidentally caught my hand in a few frames, only realised that when I played back the whole thing and couldn’t be fixed. If I did have the time to fix things, that would be one of them. I also would add movement to the legs and arms of the characters to make it more realistic.

Overall I really enjoyed filming and editing the stop motion video.

Walk Cycle Test

‘Walk Cycle Test’

Created in Adobe flash with an Intuos5 Graphics Tablet

I really enjoyed making this walking cycle. It was very challenging when making it look sort of realistic and the animation to flow properly. The one problem that I did have was the hips, while looping, the animation looks like it has a small limp. The problem was that I did not make the hips or abdomen move up and down as he walked. All in all I really enjoyed this, I always had problems when drawing legs and from making this, I feel like I have some what improved.

Frame Animation Practice – Photoshop CS6

Been messing around on Photoshop SC6 at home- Last night I managed to get together  4 frame animation of my character, Fluffy, who I’ll be featuring in my 2D animation.

Guess I really needed some practice before we start producing our 2D animations. I may or may not use this for my 2D animation, Was planning to make him turn his head to the camera, stand up and walk towards the shot.
